第6回目のインタビューは海の向こう、アメリカから日本へやってきて現在アイドルとして活躍している「ありぃ」さんです！
－－－自己紹介をお願いします。
ありぃと申します！元々アメリカ出身で5年前に日本に来ました。
今「夢☆ペディア」と言うアイドルグループの黄色担当として活動をしています！
日本の「あっとほぉーむカフェ」の制服に憧れて来日
－－－コンカフェで働き始めたきっかけは何ですか？
高校生の時(日本に来た前)ずっと日本のアイドルとメイドに憧れてました！
特にあっとほぉーむカフェのhitomiさんが好きで、日本語少ししか分からなかったのに、毎朝早く起きてhitomiさんのブログを読むようにしてました。
ずっとその制服を着てみたいと思っていたので、日本に住む事になったら絶対あっとほぉーむカフェで働いてみたいと思いました！
日本に来たら色々なコンカフェなどで働いてみて、あっとほぉーむカフェの面接受かりました！3回落ちたけど（笑）
－－－何度もチャレンジして憧れの制服に腕を通したんですね、素敵です！
では実際に働いてみてどうでしたか？
いい経験だと思います！留学生はよく日本に来たら英語教師とかよくやったりするけど、私はやっぱり皆してる事するの嫌だったし、日本でしか経験出来ない事出来たと思います！
－－－たしかにメイドカフェのバイトは貴重な経験となりますね。その中で特に楽しかったことはありますか？
やっぱり毎日可愛い制服着れるのとても嬉しかったです！
歌も好きなので、ステージで立つのは一番大好きで、やっぱりアイドル真面目にやりたいってなりました。
見た目の違いに辛さを感じることも
－－－ありぃさんの、のびのびとした綺麗な歌声は私も大好きです！
では辛かったことはありますか？
辛かった事は、、、やっぱり見た目が違うと色々大変な事があります。
メイドはみんな優しくて、お客さんも優しかったけれど、たまにお客さんに優しくない言葉をかけられることもありました。
特にこれからメイドカフェで働いてみたいアジア系じゃない外国人の子は自分のメンタルの強さをよく考えた方がいいと思います。
海外のご主人様お嬢様も「日本人のメイドが欲しい」と言われる事も何回もあって、ちょっと落ち込んでしまいます。
－－－日本特有の文化だからこそ、というところはありますよね。
ただそんな悩みがある中でも、常に笑顔で接客していたありぃさん。
そんなありぃさんがコンカフェバイトを経て大切にしていることはありますか？
メイドカフェのアルバイトで大親友に会えました。今も連絡を取ってて、絶対忘れない絶対離れたくない。
5年間くらい秋葉原で働いていますが、今まで会った女の子との繋がりを大事にしています。
－－－ありがとうございます。
コンカフェでの経験が社会で役に立ったと思うことはありますか？
とても人見知りで人に声かけることとか、会話を進める事もとても難しかったです！
でも働いている間に人との話し方とかを調べたり、ちょっと話せるようになりました！アイドルとしてもとても大事だと思います！
－－－コンカフェバイトでの1番の思い出を教えてください。
一人で遊びに来た中国のお嬢様の接客をして「日本の”可愛い”や”萌え”を私が分かる言語にしてくれて本当に嬉しいです！」と言ってくれました。
もっと大きなステージでたくさんの人を笑顔にしたい

では最後に今後の夢を教えてください。
現在アイドル活動をやっていて、夢☆ペディアを人気グループにしたいです！
これからもっともっと大きいなステージに出て、たくさんの人を笑顔にさせたいです！

コンカフェは日本特有の文化であり、細かなニュアンスを日本語でお客様に伝えるのはとても難しかったと思います。

ーーーCan you please introduce yourself?
I’m Ari! I came from the US 5 years ago. I currently work as a member of a band, “YumePedia”. My theme colour is yellow in the group!
What brought you to work at a “CONCEPT CAFÉ”?
I’d been dreaming of being a Japanese “IDOL” and a “MAID” since high school (I visited Japan). I especially liked Hitomi, a MAID of At Home Café. I woke up early to read her blogs even I wasn’t fluent in Japanese.
I really wanted to work at At Home Café if I would live in Japan because I would’ve loved to wear the uniform!
After came to Japan, I worked at a several CONCEPT CAFEs and finally passed the interview at At Home Café! I failed 3 times though hahaha
ーーーI see, you tried again and again, and got your favourite uniform as you dreamt. Fantastic!
How did you like actually working there, then?
It was a great experience. Most international students work as English teachers or something like that, but I wanted to do something different. Then, I experienced more real Japanese life!
You’re right, it is a good unusual experience to work as a MAID. Would you like to share any story while working there?
I absolutely enjoyed the pretty uniform every single day! It was my favourite to perform on the stage because I love singing. So, I came to want to be an IDOL more seriously.
ーーーI do like your beautiful relaxed singing! Well, have you faced any difficult situations?
Something difficult….. Yes, I’ve got some difficulties because look different from Japanese. My workmates and most guests were nice to me, however some were not.
The internationals especially non-Asians who want to work at maid cafes should consider how strong you are.
It was also a bit disappointing that many foreigner guests required Japanese maids.
ーーーAh yes, because it is a Japanese original culture. But you were always smiling when serving even you had that difficulties. Through those experiences, what do you think the important things are?
I made the best friend at the maid café. We are keeping in touch still and I never forget or leave her. I’ve been working at Akihabara for about 5 years, and the connections with my friends are the important for me.
Thank you. Are there any pros of your working experiences at the CONCEPT CAFEs in societies?
Yes, I was very quiet and it was super hard to talk to someone who I didn’t know! Then I researched how you talk to strangers, and it made me better! It is essential for IDOLs to communicate well with anyone.
ーーーWhat is the most memorable event at the CONCEPT CAFEs?
When I was serving a Chinese girl who came by herself, she said “I’m so glad that you explain me Japanese KAWAII and MOE in the understandable language!”

So lastly, I want to ask you. What’s your dream?
I will make my IDOL group, Yume☆Pedia popular! I’d like to perform on the bigger and bigger stages and make many people smile!

I guess it was very hard to tell the details of CONCEPT CAFEs in Japanese, which is her second language, because it is Japanese original culture.
